Without question, one of the single greatest keys to successful systems implementation is Education and Training. Education and Training begins on day one, as the Implementation Team begins the mobilization process, many of whom will be unfamiliar with the systems being implemented, and the process being applied to implement them. Education and Training continues throughout the life of the project, using your Communications Program as the Education Tool. Finally, it is through Education and Training that your end users become enrolled in the solution, and through which they are positioned to process work effectively using the tool. The optimal Education and Training Program dovetails with the strategic goals of the project, with the processes enabled by the tool, and with the Change Management and Communications Programs. Missing the mark in this area can have serious and costly ramifications on the overall implementation, and greatly undermine the potential of the systems to streamline work. That in turn will delay your ROI, a key component for change and the primary driver of the project.
