System Test

The System Test and Support phase is defined as that time when the project team tests the entire system (processes across modules, business and system data, legacy system interfaces, batch processes, reports, etc) to ensure that the system is fully integrated and functions as designed.

The amount of work required to test the entire system from front to back is fraught with hidden traps, and the complexity of the effort is often under-estimated. This is where the iStrat experts really earn their money, bringing to the table years of knowledge and experience to ensure that all of the components are working together.

A sample of the activities occurring during this phase includes:

P Conduct data validation and verification;
P Supervise dry-run testing;
P Schedule training of end users; and
P Prep site for implementation.

A sample of the deliverables that must be developed during this phase includes:

P Transition plan;
P Cutover plan; and
P Interim process plan.

The System Test phase is considered finished when the application and all of the sub-systems have passed the rigorous testing requirements established by the project team, and the test results have been reviewed and approved by the project sponsor and/or the executive committee.
